Flats #1 - 7, 2020

Flats, Claudia Pilsl

During a clear-out in my studio I found these flattened drinking cans, leftovers from an old project, and nearly discarded them. Yet then I decided to give them a new purpose, a new lease of life so to speak, and I explored what form that could take. Only after I had finished my experiments I understood that these flat objects offer also a methaphor for the current times where consumerism feels like the ultimate goal and the only hope is to think anew.

Shown as part of the exhibition We are more than two (2020) at Galerie Stōl, Vienna, curated by Vinco Nino Jaeger
