North Entrance

North entrance, 2002
Duration: 15’34”
North Entrance is based on the little used side entrance on the north side at Tate Modern. It was recorded from a single static viewpoint and framed so that half of the space is shown in the mirror-like glass of the restaurant. Passers-by seem to walk into the real space and out of the fictional space of the mirrored image. Every two minutes the flow of the time line is disrupted by a sudden yet slow turning of the entire image.
This piece is part of the Tate Modern series and was shown in a solo show titled ‘space encounters’ at the Landesgalerie am Oberösterreichischen Landesmuseum. The show is documented in form of a catalogue.
